All right I'm buying a digital camera cause you ain't gonna believe this. Fished the walls again at Fort Fisher and worked my way to Bald Head. There are some of the biggest trout this year I've ever seen. We ended the day with 47 specks released, most between 6 and 8 pounds, an estimated 20 reds and all but 3 were slots, and 8 nice flounder. Again all the trout were on Rapala XL and catch 5s. All the rest were on Nuclear Chickens with weedless Mustad hooks 1/4 oz. Seriously this was a fish massacre.

Nice specks! I fish out of Oak Island and have never caught a 6 lb. speck. We catch good quantities but not much size. I use 1/4 oz. jigs with electric chicken grub and crippled herring spoons off the bottom. Thanks for the info about Fort Fisher and Bald Head.

Big fish are holding on the walls. I like the lower tides. Be careful that area is shallow as crap. There are big fish there. Good luck!!!!!

Ouch Dave! If I didn't know you and Gunnar were such buddies I'd almost feel bad for him over that one. Guess you've got one comin'.*ROTFLMAO**ROTFLMAO*

You know what, looking at what I've caught this year, it might be the only way I catch one. *clonk* ;D

Way to go Capt. Mick! *018*

Yeah, guess I shouldn't be so hard on Gunnar. Trout of all sizes have been elusive for me this year. Gunnar knows - the largest speckled trout I've caught this year was caught by accident and taken when I was fishing from the back of his skiff - if I remember right, it was all of 18" long. Full of row, it might have weighed a pound and a half *001*

Hey Capt Mick. can you put a hungry 2 pounder in the well for me *Woot*

Psst......Gunnar, don't tell no one but go the walls. The walls are your friend. The walls are especially your friend the last two hours of low tide and the first two hours of high tide. The walls like you even better with dark mirror lures and Rapala XLs.

I'm making a trip up to Swansboro today for the weekend. First stop though is the Fort Fisher ramp and then off to the wall. I'm probably going to put the jinx on myself because I'm bringing the camera. ;D I'll let you know how it went Capt. Mick when I get back home. *008*

Well, no 5 lb. trout.

I really like this area, there were 6 trailers at the ramp and miles of beautiful marsh area with little fishing pressure. I will go back there to hunt for some reds.

I ended up catching 8 specks all of them were between 15" and 18". The first wall was the most productive for me with 6 specks and 2 reds. The broken wall in the marsh produced 1 speck. I bet that hole there holds some fish when it gets cold. The other wall which must be 2 miles long disappointed me with just 1 speck. I used mirrolures and a x-rap. I also fished a gulp on a dead stick the whole time with no bites.

Thanks for intrducing me to the area Capt. Mick *thumbsup*

Gunnar - This area really gets good in January and February. Get away from the walls and work the creeks in the marshes towards Bald Head and don't forget to hit Buzzard Bay it's in this area also. This is one of the few places you can really sight fish for tailing reds.
