View Full Version : GPS Numbers
Howdy members,
Over the course of the last year, I have marked several new productive inshore and offshore spots that I would like to offer the members of CCC of CSO. As far as I know, these numbers are NOT identified on any of the common fishing charts that you might purchase "off the shelf", nor do they include any numbers that have been given me (in confidence) by any other person. Because they do not include the many common GPS listings, (you can get those anywhere) the list is much less confusing and will not take hours to wade through to identify good, new numbers. You can be sure that the numbers identify actual locations where I have had fishing success. All you have to do to get the list is to be a current CCC of CSO member and post here to request your copy - please specify inshore or offshore numbers, or both. Oh, and one other thing - these numbers are for your personal and private use! Please do NOT give any of these numbers to anyone, including a fellow CCC of CSO member! If, for some reason, a member does not hear about this offer, simply refer them here to get a copy of these numbers direct from me.
Folks that are not a member of the CCC of CSO, as of 24 October 2008, will be asked to attend an upcoming Captain's Meeting or Family Gathering in order to receive a hand delivered copy (by me) of either of these lists.
Thanks Guys,
Dave

This is really a good thing you do, especialy for folks that don't get to come that often, maybe we can do more fishing and less "hunting"

Not in any way am I trying to derail this post as I would kill for the private inshore numbers myself (hint hint) but, for Garmin units and I think most others you can go to Boatersworld at Morehead City and for free, they will load all the "common" GPS numbers. Maybe some other places will also do this, not sure.

Thanks Ed. This offer was not meant to be a recruiting drive but we certainly welcome new members. If you have requested membership since this thread was created, please accept my abbreviated welcome, and know that I will be sending you a welcome letter (to seal the deal) in the next day or two. *thumbsup*
For those fellows that posted here, but are not yet a member of the CCC of CSO, if you care to go to the link above and read it, you will see a paragraph near the bottom titled "HOW TO JOIN". There is also a roster listing the current members of the CCC of CSO in a thread near the top of this board: http://carolinaskiffowner.com/showthread.php?t=3878 Note that there is a small line at the bottom of the post that shows when I last edited (updated) the list.
For y'all that are members and have made request in this thread, I've sent the GPS numbers to you at the email address you provided me when you joined.
Catch 'em up fellows *Cheers*

Much appreciated Dave. This will give me some sort of guidance when I wander up that direction.
Y'all are most welcome fellows. Like I said in the charter - it's all about helpin' each other. I've been repaid many times over with solid tips and timely fishing reports - some even came by phone just minutes before I was headed in the wrong direction *018*

Dave,
I would really appreciate a copy of the grids. Not much today in the Queens, except some small flounder.
The numbers are on the way Clint.
Teresa and I went out to Slocum yesterday. Except for a single trout on the first cast, we didn't get a hit 'till the water warmed up about noon and the bait started moving. Caught 8 flounders, and one short pup, with only 3 keepers to add to the speck. Lost the best flounder at the boat before I could get a net under her. The trout was caught at HanckCrk 1 and the drum and all but one flounder were caught at Slocum 12 (see the list) from noon until about 1500.

HSES, Ed - you're the MAN! I just tried it and it works perfectly - don't know how, the lat/lon is in a completely different format but when I pasted the numbers exactly like I have them listed, GoogleEarth converted them and they marked right smack on top of my existing marks! Actually they posted a few feet off from my converted marks, I'm sure due to the slight error in the manual conversion process. That makes it a whole bunch quicker and more accurate for us all. Y'all, toss that GoogleEarth Conversion Chart I sent along with the GPS numbers and do it like Ed says *Cheers*

Welcome aboard Capt John! Thanks for the compliments and thank you for joining carolinaskiffowner.com. You've entered a regional area of the Carolina Skiff Owner website and I noticed you are not yet a member of Crystal Coast Chapter of Carolina Skiff Owners (CCC of CSO). Please take a look at post number 14 (above) to see how you can become a member of our regional area, receive your copy of the GPS numbers, and start networking with your fishing friends and neighbors *Cheers*

Will, We are enjoying our little place but it seems that our friends & family are able to use it more than we are... at least it's being used. Shannon & I may be coming down on Saturday afternoon for short get-away (without the kids ;D). Wish I could get down there Friday night w/ the boat. The wind/wave forecast for Saturday is looking doable.

Hello Dave, I want to tell you how much I enjoy your posts. They are great!! I've been watching this forum for some time as a visitor and mostly because of your attitude, and others towards everyone here I joined a couple of weeks ago. I came here trying to decide which skiff I wanted when I get the funds together and it has been a great source of information. Anyhow would you send me a copy of your numbers so I can google map them?
I thank you in advance and look forward to getting in some of the threads.

Thanks for the kind words justaddwater and welcome aboard the Carolina Skiff Forums. I'm a member here for much the same reasons. Unfortunately, I don't have any numbers that would be interest to you, considering you fish in the North Topsail Beach area. The GPS numbers I'm offering are for the exclusive use of CCC of CSO members who have joined our group and participate in our Crystal Coast events. Do you get down to the Crystal Coast much? If so, you might want to consider joining up with the CCC of CSO. We're having a family gathering this weekend and a Captain's meeting later in the month. If you think our group is something you would be interested in, I've provided a link so you can request membership. If you do join, you'll need to make at least one meeting in order to be eligible to receive a copy of the numbers.

Sorry, I thought I did join CCC, I'll need to check on that. *clonk* I fish from North Topsail/Sneads Ferry area to Bogue Inlet. Also the New Bern/Glenbernie area down to Broad Creek(as far down the Nuese we've been so far) areas. Just signed up so have not had the chance to come to any of your events yet but that is certainly something we are interested in doing soon. I understand about the numbers and we can do all that after we meet sometime in the future. We're planning on a trip to Brown's Inlet/Bear Inlet tomorrow to check out our spec holes from past years. Haven't had any luck so far this fall but haven't been in the last three/four weeks as we been killing the redfish and strippers at New Bern and I find it hard to leave the stripper/redfish bite to see if we can feel a spec bite, but it's time to do just that.
I'll let you know how we do Monday*Cheers*
Sorry, I thought I did join CCC, I'll need to check on that. *clonk*
No need to check, you're right you did join on the 27th of November. Because I've had several folks asking to join since I posted this offering of GPS numbers, I've kept two rosters, one for members who joined on or before the 24th and another of those that joined after the 24th. When you asked for the numbers, I mistakingly looked at the first roster twice, thinking I had checked both. *001*
Welcome to the CCC of CSO *thumbsup* I'm sorry for the misinformation on my earlier post. Because of my mistake, and even though I stated on my initial post, http://carolinaskiffowner.com/showpost.php?p=36181&postcount=1 that new members would be required to attend a meeting prior to securing a copy of the GPS numbers, I'm going to send you an email with the inshore numbers today. I hope you find it useful and please accept my apology for the confusion that I caused. I hope to see you soon at one of our member gatherings. *Cheers*
