View Full Version : Road King Customer Service............

I had to order a winch handle, I seemed to "misplace" mine. I called Road King and "Dale" answered on the second ring, very nice guy. I then told him I had lost my handle and needed to order a new one, he joked and said "you are kinda late, this is usually a Monday morning call"! I got a kick out of that.

He asked me for my trailer model and shipping address and then said they would get it right out to me. I was kinda surprised and asked don't you need my credit card info or something as payment? He said no, all we ask is you let people know how much you like your Road King. I told him I already do that but that I would sing their praises even higher now!

So that's what I'm doing, what ever happend to customer service like this?

That's awesome !!
Maybe you should call "Dale" back and tell him not only are you telling people how please you are with your road king trailer and customer service, Your also spreading the word on the internet (AKA) CarolinaSkiffOwner.com

Were always looking for a good sponsor *hint, hint* ;D Or we could simply host there banner, at least for now.... ;)

The tires were rubbing the fender boards to the piont the raised letters were
wiped out,and it was rubbing the rubber off of the sidewall.
Road King is working on resolving the issue.

Fender Board is a carpeted piece of plywood in the inside of the fender.
I have pics but I am unable to upload on this site. I even tried photobucket.

Thanks for sending me the photo's Randell,
Here they are using photobucket. In the e-mail I told you to choose the 3rd option, I was wrong without looking at photobucket, make sure you use the 4th option, the one that says IMG CODE. (that's the one for forums such as this and will re-size automatically for you)

HOLY COW!!!!!
How far from you is the place you bought your boat (and that ABONIMATION, SORRY excuse for a trailer)? I believe that I'd drop it off at the place it was bought, and EXPECT the fenders, tires to be replaced , anybody that pushed/moved that trailer with the boat on before you got it KNEW (how could you NOT know) that something was dragging.
You spend your hard earned money and this happens?????????? HECK NO!!!!!!!!!
You didn't order the trailer did ya? Take it back where ya got it, if the folks won't do the right thing by ya, you hit me back and I'll help ya "tie up their fone lines".
Who did you get this rig from???
Dang,,,,,,,,,

Well, got my handle in today, works better than the first one. The first one was to long and and hit the bow of the boat when you winched it in. This one is perfect and does not have to be removed when you are loading the boat.

Yeah, you'll have to give me a few days, I can't talk right now on the phone. I had a Bronchoscopy done today, seems I have acid reflux and severe bronchitis.

Hold on a minute, we want to give these boys a fair shake at fixin' the problem.
Reggie I do appreciate you having my back on this but we ain't stringin
no one up yet ;D.
I was in contact with R/K's N.C. location again today. hopefully we will have this
issue resolved in a wek or two.

Road King has had come misfortune themselves. The FORD :o service truck
broke down last week on the way to complete the repair on my trailer.
They sent another truck to Farmville N.C. where my boat was ( I live in VA)
to get me back on the road.
There are lot of details I have left out to protect the inniocent :o.

Thanks for the support !
We'll see how it turns out . . .

~ Randell

oh yea, did I tell yall I GOT A NEW T-TOP ?
I'll try and post some pics

Harry
08-07-2007, 09:14 PM
Randell,
We're not looking to string anyone "up", in fact quite the oppoisite. Loki was pleased with there customer service and we we're "hoping" *keeping fingers crossed* to invite them to join our site by hoisting the website banner here. ;D

Hopefully you will be as pleased with them as Loki was.

About your new top,
I posted in the other thread about it. Was thinking of getting one for my 198 DLV. (should have check into it when I bought the boat. ::)
Still trying to figure out the best size for me......

Ok, string anyone up, throw them under the bus . . .not my intentions.
like I stated I want to give them a chance to make it right.
So far, other than being a little hard to get on the phone they have done
what they had promised.

That is why I have not posted any negitave comments.

Jus kiddin Randell,
notice the ;) ? ;D ;D ;D
I hope they get the thing all worked out quick time for you, Are they going to replace the tires that you know?
Can you post a pic of the trailer? a view from the rear would answer a nagging question in my head. That question is: why would they put the fenders so far out as to rub the tires? Were they up against the boat too? Jus wondering out loud, :-X

Randell

So far the axle has been replaced with a wider one.
They also replaced the tires. I am waiting for them to complete
the service with the correct fenders and new fender boards.
The only fenders they had on the service truck were not the correct ones
for the application. Remember their servive truck broke down on the way
to repair my trailer.

Road King has several service trucks that will come to you and complete
warranty repairs in the feild. I do not know if any other trailer
mfg has this service. Alot of bad luck has been hovering around this
deal from the begining. Hopefully they will get it worked out soon.

too hot to fish this wek anyway

Randell,

Does your trailer problems come from your dealer selling you the wrong size, or under rated (wieght
wise) trailer. Common problem.

o2bfishn

Randell
08-08-2007, 09:03 PM
No, My trailer is rated @ 3000 lbs. Bunk boards support the entire boat
and even hang out the back a little. Road King says the incorrect width
axle was installed at the factory. With no load the tires did not hit, or
maybe when I loaded my stuff into the boat that extra weight made the
boat sit down further on the trailer.
Road King did contact me today, hopefully in a week or so we will
have this resolved.

Two more weeks and Road King still has not completed the repaits to my trailer.
Spoke with them on Monday 8/20. They were to get back with me. Today 8/22
I was told my contact was busy doing inventory he would have to call me back and
in the same breath the young lady told me my issue was being handled by their S.C.
location.
Geeze whats going on with these people. I have been extremly patient until this
point. I even told them on Monday to send me the fenders, fender boards and
the marker light that was broken and I would install it all myself. How much more
can I offer? :-\

Ok stepping down from my soap box now.

Road King sent my fenders back today via UPS.
I just came in from bolting them on. Now she is back to normal, fender boards and all.
I still have not received the marker light but at this point i'm happy to the original
fenders back on.
Road King did do what they had said they would do to correct the problem, there
were just a few speed bumps along the way.
The hot glue gun should take care of the light so I ain't sweating it.

After reading you guys post, I've just got off the phone with Steve from the N.C. site. Very helpful, friendly and seems to be willing to help even with my trailer out of warranty. Hopefully, I'll come out of this with the same results as you guys. Will see.

Randell

Steve is the one to get you results.
By the way, he owns the joint.
Him and two other guys founded Road King in 2002.

Found this info on Entrepreneur.com

Company Background
When a need arose for a quality trailer manufacturer, Road King Trailers was born. Larry Hamm, a previous founder of another trailer manufacturer, collaborated with Steve Soule and Bruce Carpenter in 2002. The company now specializes in a range of powerboat, watercraft, motorcycle and utility trailers. According to the founders, having a specialized niche has helped them build a better product and continuously make strides to improve the industry.

Talked with Steve again yesterday and, all hope IS NOT lost. He said he would set up a service call, sounded and looked to him that they "may" have put the axle in upside down thus affecting the tow. Didn't say when but, there's hope. I'll keep you posted and for sure if he comes through, I will take back and correct adverse things I've said about R.K. in the past.

Picked up my R.K. trailer from my shop yesterday and boy, was I surprised. Not only did they put on a new axle but, hubs, new tires and wheels. Can't be happier now except, I won't know for sure if it's fixed or not till the spring trips. I've tried to call Steve to thank him but so far, he's out of the office. BUT, I will talk to him again.
Thank you all for your input. Tight lines.
