i've been watching shark week all week and it reminded me of some pictures that i have from the bahamas. i took these pics while diving off of nassau. we were in the middle of 25-30 caribean reef sharks. the big ones felt like they were 20' long. all kidding aside, i know there was a few well over 10'!!

You got bigger balls than me!
It's like when people ask if you would parachute from a plane, I find something fundamentally wrong with jumping out of a perfectly good airplane. I feel the same way with jumping in the ocean when I can actually see sharks in the water.

i wouldn't ever try sky diving. we couldn't see the sharks when we first dove in, or else i think most of the group would've stayed on the boat. i had just finished diving a ship wreck when the second boat came up and dropped over that bucket of chum. about five mintues later the sharks showed up and all the divers left the area, except for me and my diving buddy. at one point there was 25 divers, then there was 2 divers and 25 sharks! i never really felt like we were in danger, or at least i realized there was nothing i could do if something happened. as men we walk around earth thinking that we are the supreme beings and we are top dog, well when you are in the water with that many sharks you quickly realize man is not really the top dog 100% of the time!

Was about 1-2 miles off the beach yesterday, when we spotted a giant school of bunker. We snagged some and let then settle to the bottom hoping to get into a stripper (rockfish)
We only had our light flounder rods and all the sudden mine double's over, About 45 minutes later I get a 5' shark boat side. Thought I had on a giant striper ::)

I've heard that if you saw a photo taken from a low flying airplane over Galveston on a day when the water is clear that you'd never swim there again...

I use to dive a lot my self, actually when in the water a few feet below surface, sharks would never bother you,it's when you are at the surface and kick your feet, they think that you are a disabled fish and they attack, but that is not normal either.I was spear fishing once and i was coming up to the surface with my catch attached to me with a rope, when i saw couple of sharks swimming above me, the first thing i did i let go my catch.Guess what, they were not interested any more in me, they dove for the good stuff.

I can say I will never swim with that, but I have jumped out of an airplane quite a few times. A least there its a quick death, swiming with those things would be a slow death . You the man. 013 012 012

that dive was the most fun i've ever had in the water! nothing else even compares to being that close to so many sharks! maybe i have a screw loose somewhere 006, but i can't wait to get back over to the bahamas and do that again!
