So my Skiff that i just bought has been in Atlanta at my parents house for a week now! Im finally going home to get it and bring it back to savannah with me to get my share of trout that are running around lately! Ive got almost everything i need to put it in the water, gonna go home and mount the rod holders, and clean it up real nice and bring it down. Working for DNR im absolutely tired of talking to people about fishing everyday im ready to FISH MYSELF! it amazing too working for the DNR people actually share their spots, i wouldnt..... i still havent taken any pictures but i will tomorrow and ill hopefully figure out how to get them on here, the only i dont like is the stick steer, i got a great deal on the boat so im getting really tempted to go to console again....i know its money but if its my boat it should be how i want it i think....any opinions on that is welcome!!

Hey Matt,
CONGRATS DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Gettin it home FEELS GOOD!!!!! When ours got here, we spent over an hour in it in the yard, AND THEN realized we should have ALREADY been in the lake. It was a day, we STUFFED the bream, cats, and bass into the 18 gal livewell till it couldn't hold water, if it was cast, sumpthin bit, That day stays fresh 'round here!!!!!! (as the chief cook, bottle washer, AND fish cleaner, I remember it a bit better than the rest I spent over 2 HOURS cleanin fish.)
Take it on out, seems the "fishing god" looks out for the new boat guys!!!!!
Then bring it home and "customize" the heck outta it!!!!!!! Folks on here ain't bashfull, and we'd all like to see what you do to your's, so take pics as ya "trick it out" and share 'em on here!!!!!!
An hey dude, what ya gonna name her????????

Yeah im ready to get her here, i havent decided on a name yet, its just a lil 16 foot skiff, i dont know if there is a difference between the 16 and the J16 but this one is a '96 model 16, no J with it. it does have a higher weight and power rating than the J series. i am going to probly write "PA" on it somewhere for my grandpa, he was the one i would go fishing with alot, and he passed away so i figured i would put that on there so we could still fish together. Im on my way home and getting more and more excited, pictures are soon to follow!!

Well sorry i havent updated since i got my skiff home, my girlfriends grandmother passed away and i have been away from things for a few days. I got my skiff home last weekend and took it out on the maiden voyage. It started eventfully with a shallow ramp, my truck had all 4 wheels in the water and still had to encourage the boat off the trailer with a push. got her docked up and noticed water steadily coming in the back but a quick tightening of the plugs cured that. We had a long idle speed ride out to the main river, plenty of time for the 40 horse to get warmed up and to take its first gulp of saltwater. finally got to open it up and the boat steadily sped up and just slid across the water. We just cruised for about 15 minutes and it was a nice ride, an offshore boat cut me off and i had the pleasure to bang across his wake, got wet but the boat handled it very well. I was slightly dissapointed that WOT only mustered 28.8 mph.......given there were 2 adults, 2 deep cycle batts., and 12 gallons of gas. The boat rode just a tad nose high, i do not have tilt trim so im wondering if i adjusted the motor angle to account for the new weight in the rear, this may bring the nose down any opinions? So we ran all the way out to Wassaw island which is the last stop before the ocean. My girl and i decided since it was 115 degrees we would anchor at the beach and sit in the water for a while. We made the same trip back and had just as nice of a ride. All in all it was a great first trip!! hope all of you guys are doing great

Hey Matt,
Post a pic of you in the welcome section, ( some folks would rather see the girlfriend, they tend to be a bit cuter than the ol' man ::) ) but nonetheless, post a pic of ya in the boat!!!!!!!!!

try adjusting your motor trim pin down to slightly negative trim, this helped keep my J16 nose down with my new motor. also if it is a center console, (if you can) try moving your batteries up under the console. this will greatly help center the weight and make it run better. i have a 12 gal tank and 2 batteries under my console and my J16 doesn't sink the stern when i take off. just runs flat all the way until it planes. this really helps my shallow water hole shot.
