Howdy folks, which one ya'll using??? CD?? Cassette?? or MP3?? or I-pod???
say why, I use a MP3 player, 711 songs (my style tunes, can't stand the radio no more, sounds like somebody stompin a kitty-cat to death now-a-daze, music???, MY rosy red _______) ((fill in the blank however ya'll see fit))
I WAS gonna git a fancy CD player, was lookin fer one what didn't "skip" as ya hit a wave/wake, been haulin a "boom -box" 'round and gettin what I want ta listen to, Face it, different strokes fer different folks, I grew up on Country, (Chris Ledoux, Dwight Yoakam, etc, ) but when the early 70's come 'round I "found" rock-N-roll, and enjoy a mix of the 2 (ol' lady can't take it, she a bit "younger" than me an listens ta 3 doors down, Metallica, etc), me, I'ze happy with Patsy Cline to Deep Purple (and SHE calls me "Narrow-minded" HA!!!!!)
What ya'll got??????????? I use a MP3 player, good tunes all day, and it ain't spinnin no cd neither, usin LESS juice btw,

Gimpy,
When we finally get our fishing trip worked out, I don't have to watch you dance, do I?????
To answer your question, I take an XM boombox with me.

The stereo in the boat is AM/FM/CD (MP3 compatible) and also has Aux inputs for an IPod or anything else using a headphone jack. Turns out I really don't use it as much as I thought I would. Even been known to hook the portable DVD up to the stereo and watch movies while waiting for the July 4th fireworks to start.
When running, I either listen to radio or hook up a portable MP3 player so nothing skips.

I wanna get something, not sure what yet.
It's gonna have to be MP3 compatable. I don't have the
"I-pod" and went against the tide on this one.
I went with what microsoft calls the "I-pod killer". It's called a "Zune", has an FM transmitter, you can send and recieve songs wirelesss to other zune users, bigger screen....etc.
Anyway,
I'm with Sportskiff. The radio doesn't cut it anymore. Unlike sportskiff I like Peral jam, Alice in chains, Narvina, The doors, Skynard, Ozzy, and the list goes on. All kinds of music for me, new stuff and old....

I'll get you pics soon. I have a couple of things to tinker with on the boat.
I have 1200 songs on my Ipod nano and I rarely use it. If I want I can use an FM transmitter on the boat and send the ipod signal to 88.7 FM. I also have the home sirius radio setup that I could use on the boat. I'm more interested in fishing and the VHF chatter than the radio, but it has its place.
I listen to the same stuff Harry does. Classic rock and some more modern stuff. No Buffett though!!

I plan to install a am/fm/cd that will play mp3 format and also have a jack for my 30G Zune. I think I will be more satisfied with a mp3 cd than possibly messing up the Zune in the elements.

ANOTHER ZUNER !!!! COOL !! 011
I don't want to hi-jack this thread but not too many Zune's out there. If you don't know what a Zune is, it's Microsofts anwser to the I-pod, but better !!
I will be equipping my boat with an MP3 friendly radio as well.

Clarion M475 w/ CeNet cable to ipod. Head unit controls ipod mounted under console. keeps it charged as well. no cd's to deal with just 7.5 gigs of fishing tunes.

Ran down the river in with solid two foot standing waves and the CD player hasn't worked since!!! It was a maine CD player but NO CD player can take the kind of pounding a boat can deliver. My fix was to install a CD/AM/FM unit with an AUX input on the front - I can take my MP3 player, in a case with a strap, strap it on a T-Top leg, plug it in and fish away

I'll take an MP3 player anytime. I've had 2 on 2 different motorcycles. You'll need an amp to drive speakers, so make sure that you mount the amp someplace where it won't be exposed to elements, and put a fuse and switch on it. I always just mounted an MP3 player with velcro - that way I could remove it or move it someplace else. The amp you choose will depend on how much background noise you need to overcome. On my trike, I had a 500 watt Sony amp mounted under the seat - could still hear the tunes at 70 mph and straight pipes! (so could anyone else within a 1/2 mile radius) ROTFLMAO

Alpine mp3 player with i pod contols , rocks the house. yay yay yay yay yay yay
Took it out of my Wrangler, sold the wrangler kept the radio.
I installed a Sony Marine Radio and Sony Speakers in my 218 DLV. Picked them up at Crutchfields. Used it all summer in some bad weather with no problems. It comes with stereo and CD, and I added XM and I-pod.

brokebeach, good looking install thumbsup. what brand are those speakers and can you show another pic from further back to show the setup. I am in the process of buying a sound system but can't decide what I really need but I like the way those speakers look. Thanks

These are polyplaner 5&1/4 inch two-way speakers. They are not the best by no means and they were affordable.Sound okay.I put them here for a little bass response.Probally should have gone with some 6&1/2.That's okay though ,I made the encloser a litte big for 5&1/4s. Used the seat cushion bolts for holding the encloser in place and two angle brackets.I have one long bracket on the side.Pretty solid.
Only problem is that I had to be a contortionist to mount it.
