I went out scalloping today with some friends, on my parents boat, too many people for the skiff. They have a 22' SeaPro. Great day! We brought home 6 gallons or so. Plenty for a big dinner. Absolutely perfect conditions. Although we found the most out in deeper water, 4-5 feet.

i sautied (sp?) them in a pan with some extra virgin olive oil, garlic, and lime juice. the bay scallops we get have a really sweet flavor when fresh, so i try to not "overflavor" them. the biggest trick is, like catfish, soak them in milk before cooking. it'll help soften them up.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D we should have a smilel face thats drooling on here, cause you guys have some good chow. Like sportskiff said, post up a recipe or 2 for us to try. Store bought will never taste as good as fresh, but when its all we got, it will have to do.... Willie :D

Oh the memories! We used to just about sink the boat with scallops years ago, but with our East Pass having closed off, the scallops (and bay fishing) has suffered. We have been closed to scalloping in St Andrews Bay for the last several years. Supposedly, they are going to re-open the East Pass....if they do, scallops and fishing will improve tremendously.

I can remember snorkeling for scallops when the biggest dilema was deciding which one to pick up first!

Enjoy a few for me!

I know it's an old topic, but you haven't lived if you never tasted one of these right out of the shell.

yeah we have some raw right out of the shell while out on the water. kinda like eating a raw oyster only not as slimey. and will, the girl holding the net was the "babe of the week" for a good friend of mine. he went through a girl a week last summer.
