I NEED SOME ADVICE ON MOUNTING TROLLING MOTOR BATTERIES IN MY 2004 198 DLX. I AM LOOKING TO INSTALL A 24V MOTOR AND DO NOT KNOW WHERE THE BEST LOCATION TO MOUNT THE BATTERIES. ANY ADVICE WILL BE GREAT

THANKS ???

I have a J16 skiff and have them mounted in the center console. It really helps in my boat to have the weight balanced. Of course I only have two batteries. One for the trolling motor and a 58 series that fits a honda car for my cranking battery. Really dropped some weight over having a bigger one. I would say up front, but I'm not sure if that will work with your boat. Someone else should know...

Slim is correct. Weight distribution should be main concern, even if it mean's running cables to get to the motor.

Check out this thread. It talks about such issue's on a DLV. http://carolinaskiffowner.com/index.php?topic=406.0

yeah, for trolling motor batteries i would deffinetly mount them inside the bow and if you intended on using the trollin motor a lot putting a built in charger in the bow with it.

I have mine bow mounted and I use Optima brand dry batteries. Mine are two years old and get used 200 days plus a year. They have never failed and you can even mount them laying down! You get absolutely no acid spill and are well worth the extra money. I used to replace batteries at least every 18 mths. I hoping to get about 3 years out of these. Tom

I have mine under the middle of the bow. I screwed the boxs down with 5200. Make sure the screw heads are sunk enough not to touch the batteries or you will get a hole. Get some large super balls out of the vending machines at walmart. Cut them in half and 5200 them in the corners of the boxs and set the batteries on them. After you strap them down good and tight they act as a custion when you are in heavy waves.

WORKS GREAT
