MY HONDA SAYS FIRST 20 THEN AT EACH 100 hr's
BUT I WAS THINKING ONCE A SEASON , NOW I DID THE FIRST "BREAK IN CHANGE AT 20hr
VALVOLINE 10-30
HECK IM NOT TO 40 YET , AND OUR 1999 BOAT ONLY HAS 275 hr's
SO IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE
OK SO NOW DO IT BEFORE LAY UP TO GET THE OLD OIL WITH THE BAD STUFF OUT INSTEAD OF LETTING IT SIT IN MY MOTOR FOR 6 MONTHS
OR FIRST THING NEXT YEAR TO GET WINTER STUFF OUT OF IT ? BOTH ?
NOTHING ELSE MATTERS

I change the oil once a year and that is b-4 lay-up period, as a matter of fact i do everything(lower unit, gas filters, plugs if needed, good grease on all joins and pivots, etc.etc) before lay-up period. I never removed a battery from a boat and i mean NEVER. I have them on the charger like i normally do all year.

I do my crankcase and lower unit twice per season and use Mobil 1 in the crankcase and full synthetic gear oil. Maybe overkill, but even small outboards like I run are pretty expensive, so I figure it's good insurance to treat them well.
