Hey
Make sure your knifes float...lol....Been there done that...mount a big old battery cable clamp on the left side and put a lip board on the back...it will help you out controling them big ole slimy whoopers...keep them from slipping around..make cleaning much easier...BoogieBlues

That is great work. Run water out to that and it will be first class.
Thanks for the input guys. I need to break it in this weekend.

Looks really good, like Boogie said, put a 2" lip in the back and the sides to keep everything on the table, including fish.

Would you mind posting a parts list?
How many of each size board would I need to buy?
I like it so much I may want to build one. *Cheers*

1 * 4 's around one end and the back...cut 1/2 in slots at the bottom for draining. (or keep a long handle dip net handy)
"How many of each size board would I need to buy?"
Well, now that depends!! :)

Nice job. I need to put together something like that, although I'm not on the water, and I don't know if the marina would appreciate it or not. Right now I just use a 6 ft 2x6 and throw the remains in a ravine behind my house - far enough that I can't smell anything. Everything is always gone (including bones) by the following morning, so I'm feeding something back there ;D.
Glad you like it.
- 2 ea 8' 4x4's (all wood is pressure treated)
- 4 ea 8' 2x4's
- 2 ea 8' 2x12's
- 4 ea 5/8" galv hex bolts, washers, nuts (to tie bottom of 4x4's to pier joists)
- 4 ea 3" metal 90 degree brackets (to tie 4x4's to bottom of lower shelf)
- Wood screws, various sizes
- Liquid Nails exterior grade glue
- 4 ea Du-Bro rod holders
It's solid, which is what I wanted. I think it's because the 4x4's are tied in both at the pier joist and the lower shelf. Plus I screwed and glued the lower shelf to the top of the piling.
Let me know if you have any questions. Good luck.

Ron,
I think your cleaning station looks solid. The only concern I have is the fillets coming in contact with the pressure treated wood. Lots of poisons in there to keep the bugs away. I hope you are using a cutting board on top of it.

I did not notice that was PT wood. If i was you i would cut and screw a piece of starboard or polyethylene board on top of your cutting station. And if you don't want your starboard to be sliced and get dirty, what i did to my boat bait cutting boards was i put a 3/8 plexiglass(could be 1/4" but i had left over)on top of that, so at the end of the year if it really looks bad i throw it away and cut a new one(plexiglass). Still, great idea of your cutting station.

Don't want to dampen the party but be cautious if considering using pressure treated wood for the cutting surface. It's basically not food safe. ACQ treatment contains biocides, alkaline, and a few other nasties. With that being said a nice large piece of cutting board inset into the top would be nice or just plain maple, like a cutting board.

Thanks for the advice. I had already purchase a starboard cutting board from Boaters World to use with the fish. The table will probably also get used when we're loading junk into the boat, so I planned on keeping the fish cleaning mess to the starboard.
If I decided to cover the top with starboard could I buy a 2' x 4' sheet somewhere? How much?
Thanks again.

hey
starboard aint cheap....I have a PT shooting bench table that I just put a heavy coat of polyurathane on...I have used it for 20 years to clean fish on at the house...no four armed three eye kids and Iam still kicking...lol...BoogieBlues

Try this... it's cheaper than Starboard

Thanks Shakespeare - $53 for a 2'x4' sheet isn't too bad.
Boogie - I hear ya. If the saw dust I breathed in sanding the board didn't kill me than nothing will :)

Don't know how many people own horses, but they chew everything and get sick at the drop of a hat, if they are any indication, eatting PT has limited effects...*006*
