I noticed on picture 19 of your album that you have a cover on the opening of the gas tank, have you had any problems with lack of ventilation, gas fumes?

Second question did you make it or where did you obtain it from?
Thanks

I got it from my dealer, The Grass Shack in Buford GA. They have a canvas person down the street from them that make them for them. It was $95 which you could probably make cheaper yourself. I like it though and it is very durable. Makes it look a whole lot better and I can store a dry box and my dive flag in there out of sight.

I had never really thought about the fumes problem. I read a post on the forum here yesterday that concerned me though I have never had any type of issue with it. I am sure it traps fumes, but I go in and out of it all the time as it is where I keep my dry boxes, I have never smelled gas fumes in there.

Maybe I am flirting with disaster but it does not seem to be an issue.

you might be flirting, I vented my tank to the outside of console , and if i close it in i will add stainless steal vent covers and place some vent holes in the sides, they dont cost much. Just the thought of that fuel sloshing around creating fumes into a not well vented area where almost all the electric wires and switches are kinda concerns me , but im a fireman and kinda like putin out boat fires as long as its not my boat. not trying to scare you but just pointin out a potential problem. when you flip a switch sometimes it creates a small arck inside the switch, you dont really see it but its there none the less. and if a flamable mixture is just right you will deffinately see it. sorry but i think you just might be flirtin

Thanks for the information, it is similar to one I had seen locally.

the reason I brought up the fumes was that on a tread (I was asking about a cover for this opening) I had posted some people brought it up including coast guard regulations on enclosed spaces.

Thanks for responding

I'm thinking of installing a cover also, but i will put one vent on each side of the console and maybe a little fan just to circulate air in there.

Another option is close the vent from the cap and install a separate vent on the outside of the console, our tanks have an extra port which is pluged.

Yea i took the plug out and put a fitting and hose to outside vent, you shouldnt need a fan, just some side vents should due *thumbsup*
