Shoot thru hull

Anyone done the shoot thru hull method for their fish finder? The area I want to mount mine is flat and looks to be 1/4" thick and on the very bottom of the boat. I'll get some pics this evening.

I don't think any body here done this, but where is the area that is flat and only 1/4" thick?

It might be more then 1/4" thick, but it's located just about 1 foot in front of my drain plug. I went ahead and mounted it there and gave it a test today seem to work fine, but more testing is needed. I'll post pics as soon as I get the chance.

That area in my boat is at least 1" thick and it has foam in between, signal will not travel through that.

I was surprised at how thin it seems to be on my boat.
