First of all let me say "Hi" and complement you on a great site!
I just bought a 2003 1965 V Series with a 75hp Mercury.

I love the boat but it does not have a boarding ladder. The price was right and I knew I would be adding one.

I am always leary of drilling holes in boats. I was interested in the type of ladder that just hangs over the gunwale. I have looked at the ones at Bass Pro but they all got pretty bad reviews. Can anyone recommend a hanging ladder with confidence?
I weigh about 200 and I have some pretty big buddies so it needs to be stout!

If no one can recommend a good hanging ladder please recommend an easily installed mounted one that will not break the bank.

eta: I have done a search and did not see what I was looking for.

Thanks!

What i don't like about the ones over the gunnel, you can easily forget to put it on before you dive. *clonk*

Remember the movie?

Hey Onemangang.

You mentioned some pretty big buddies that will need to use the ladder. We have a permanent ladder and still have problems with that. Here's a goofy thing I added to our boat to help.

I made an 16" long, 1 1/2" diameter aluminum pole with a rubber handle on one end. It fits into the recessed rod holder at the rear deck. When we go tubing or skiing I slide it into the rod holder to give people a little extra help pulling themselves out of the water.

It was cheap, easy to make and works great. Thought this might help if you use the hanging ladder near a rod holder. Good luck.

We purchased a hanging ladder from West Marine for about $40.00, I think. I have not used it a lot, but it works for me (225 lbs.). I hang mine off of the gunwale in the middle of the boat. That way you can boost yourself up and grab the handle on the center console to get into the boat. Not real graceful, but it works.
