hello fellow skiffers,
How about a membership drive? We MIGHT talk Harry into putting a "buisness card" sized logo with web addy that we can download and print, to cardstock or paper, whatever. We could the carry some with us and stop by where we bought the best boats, CAROLINA SKIFF. The dealer who sold me mine agrees with this idea. He tells everyone who looks at a skiff that there is a website dedicated to the skiff and how to "customise" her. It's a plus when he sells a boat to give the folks a web addy , makes 'em feel "at home" especially when they show up here. Somebody just sold a 198dlv to a guy 1/2 mile down the road from me, going to stop by and see if he'll jump on this site, (shure he will, he doesn't have any added stuff yet, no ff, no lights etc, just a pre-rig w/ a t top).
Ya see somebody in a skiff, ya hand em a card, put your " skiff name " on it with this web addy and BAM we got another member here.
Wadda ya say folks, good idea or bad????

Great idea. We did this on another site I run www.ChevyThunder.net

We made up a flyer and guys could print them out and pass them around at car shows.

I will see if I can make up some business card size and if you all want you can print them out and do like sportskiff said, pass them around.

I had been thinking of this for a little while now (not the business card thing) but making a flyer and seeing if boat or bait shops would post them for me. I ran the idea past Willie, but I've been busy as all heck.

If anyone has computer skills + the time, and wants to make something up, I would not turn away the help..... ;D

You could e-mail me what you come up with.

Yes, Just took a peek at it. Must say you do some nice work Bro !!! Only thing is I think it might eat up WAY too much ink with all the colors. Looks great though. However, if someone is just gonna print up a dozen cards or so it shouldn't be too bad.

I have to run out now and want to hook up with you later on this. I have some idea's I want to throw at you.

Thanks Sportskiff, I'm just trying do my little part in helping Harry and the community. Besides, I have a vested interest in trying to get as many people to sign up as possible. The more people we have the better odds I have that someone can answer my "first time boat owner questions".

that is a flyer, or am I not looking at it right? If it's a flyer, can I get you to "shrink"it to card size?? It'd fit in the wallet better, I don't mean to upset you, (hope I didn't) but I'd like cards too.

Well, sure I guess. I can send them to whoever wants em. I just didn't want to step on Harry's toes or anything seeing how this site is his baby. I sent him and the other admins a sample of the cards and if he approves, I or they can send the cards to any of the members who might want a few.

I'm sure I can also add the "Member:_______" blank, again, as long as Harry doesn't mind the change. Thanks for the idea gimpy!

If you can turn the business card sized page into a link, I will post it as a "sticky" and folks can click on it and download it from the site. That way we don't have to send it out to everyone, they can get it here themselves ( I think that would work) ???

As for adding your "site handle", once you download it to WORD or whatever you use, can't you change the document and add the handle to it?? It would fit nicely in the upper or lower right hand side.
