Hey
I was told by someone that before I use Synthetic marine grease that I should pull my hubs and clean all the old non synthetic grease out before I use the synthetic...Can anyone confirm or un confirm if this is true or not...seems to me as long as there is grease in the hub it shouldnt matter...BoogieBlues

I think that would hold true for oil but for grease I can't see that you would need to go to that trouble. JMHO

Boogie, there could be a compatability problem if the same base ingredients differ between greases.

See this thread. http://www.carolinaskiffowner.com/showthread.php?t=1113&highlight=grease

Hey Boogie,
I have personally seen it happen on on a couple of civie ( a moonie and a 170) planes, and it turns the stuff to goo, Avaition gas (101 LL) cut it pretty good Ya find a product ya like, and clean out everything else. Anything else pretty much takes Shake or a chemist to see if it's compatable, and I'd stick with Shake myself. (Shake, you a researcher or what????)
