tranducer help needed badly!!!!

i recently lifted the console of my smaller 16ft aluminum boat to do some work. after putting it back in and connected everything to the battery i was ok. i had the boat in the water and the depth finder reads transducer not connected. i have already spent a little while messing with it and see nothin wrong. can anyone please give me an idea of what i should try??

dink, you didn't mention the make or model of your depth finder. I have a Garmin and the transducer has a mil spec type connector that attaches to the wiring harness going to the chartplotter. I'd double check where it hooks into the unit and also look for pinched wires where you reset the console. Look for bent pins in the connector or evidence of corrosion or something that doesn't look like it belongs in the connector. If that don't get it then trace the wiring from one end to the other. Lastly, if there's no evidence of bad connections or physical damage then it's probably time to ship it back to the factory and/or get a replacement.
