I have only used them as teasers on rigs. I'd like to buy a cheap rod and give it a shot one day.

Hey Sportskiff!

Here is a pic for you to show to Chumhead. I know him from the other CS forum. He was fishing Steinhatchee with the Addictive Fishing group a while back and we were going to try and hook up. Anyway, here is one to show to Chumhead because I know he likes to catch those big reds around the bridges. Caught this red in about 8" of water on live mullet in Mosquito Lagoon a few weeks ago. (I know I am cheating, but sometimes you got to give your "rotator cuffs" a break with the saltwater fly rigs). Will get with you soon on the fly tying!

Tight Lines,

Me Too :o
Just thought I show you something I aquired years ago. Mr Ned Lentz tied flys for Orvis...
many many years ago. He lived near The space center somewhere, and he made these two framed Saltwater Fly Groupings to hang on the wall...These are hand signed and listed #001 and #002 Any idea what they may be worth ? Would trade them for something else fishey.
I still fish with flys but did it more when I lived in Pa. and belonged to the Yellow Breeches
Trout Fishing Org. and fished for other fresh water fish. I have some of mudder minnows, and some bass and trout streamers, but now I use a 1.o or bigger, Blue Deceivers and others, with a stainless hooks to catch the larger saltwater fish. I Went from a #7's & 8's stinger graphites 8' long(which I still have and use) to a 14' two handed 3 piece quartz/graphite with 12 weight line... now thats a tough rod to double haul with... ;) But its fun to hook up with a 200 lb or bigger fish on a fly rod !

Seabelow,
you full of surprises, aren't you? I have spent over an hour in my resourse cds and have yet to place Ned Lentz creations, what all do you know about him? As far as pricing the items, I'd have to track down originals that he came up with, via book prefered. There wern't a lot of folks that put peacock hurl on top of a deciever. Peacock hurl usually is for sho flies as a toothy critter usually shreds it off on the first bite. What you have are nice , definatly sho quality.
If you really want some fun, 2-4 wt line, 8' rod, large arbor reel, with a black or chartrues industructible wooly begger. Or a white/red seaducer. Sea trout just can't put up with em, I've had good luck with black bendback decievers too. Just like takin a rainbow or brown, but I think seatrout fight a bit more.
I'd hate to run that 14' rod, 12 wt!!!!!!!! dang, you'ld look like Charlie Atlas (on one side anyway)
DANG!!!!!

All I know was that the guy who tied the flys was old.. and I bought his flys at Oak Hill flea Market from a collector of fishing equip. in about 2000. They are maybe 25 years old plus. It doesn't show well in the photo's but the frames are like shadow boxs..1 inch deep. I talked to one fellow and he said he heard
of the guy and that that he once tied for Orivis out of New York...Not sure if the guy tied in Fl. and shipped his flys or worked in New York and retired in Florida.
