hey all - nice site you have here - thanks for allowing me to snoop around.

having owned an 18' southern skimmer for many years, we sold it in 2006. this year we started looking again for a skiff and wanted to check out the dlv line... the wife and i like what we saw and are thinking long and hard on a 258. *thumbsup*

we like the extra room over the 238... for company, camping gear, etc. but we would like to put the least amount of HP on it feasible. we're thinking a Suzuki 140 will easily push it around 30 loaded - with remaining throttle to spare if needed... ?

my rationale is based on: we ran our old 18' skimmer with a 40 merc for many years (usually well loaded)... then upgraded to a 60 evenrude when the 40 gave up the ghost. that boat was rated for a 75hp and we powered it at @ 53%.

53% 0f 200hp (max for the dlv258) is 106hp.

thanks for any advice... God bless!
