Just got my boat back in the water from it's 20 hr. service. To take my boat to service I have to get someone to drive it from the dry stack to the boat ramp and then pull it one way approx. 100 miles. My Yukon is not known for it's great gas mile age so.......after i launched the boat, we took it the 3 or so miles from the ramp to the marina and the oil light started flashing. Cut it off, checked the oil, it was full, restarted same thing. I called the dealership and was told it was a warning light for service and I should reset it by taking off the kill switch and lifting it three times. Anyone familiar with this. It kind of sounds like BS to me.

Had the dealer switch props from an 18 to a 20. The 18 was ventilating at 6000 rpms. Wow, what a difference that made...

Anyway, I wanted to check here first. If it does reset and there is a problem I do not want to be burned. However, 200 mile round trip, an $80.00 tank of gas, 3 hours or so from my job and I bill out at $150,00 per hour kind of adds up if I'm on a wild goose chase.

No it's true.

Not sure of the exact sequence, but it's outlined in the manual. Do you have it?

If not let me know I'll post my findings.

Capt. Mick... it's no BS. Turn the key to "on" with the switch plate in place... then pull the plate out. Pull the knob 3 times within 10 seconds and you'll hear a short confirming beep. Turn the switch off, then replace the plate and you're good to go.

Hey, I'd love to get your prop numbers if you think you've hit nirvana.

Thanks,

Mike C.

Thanks Guys - I'll try that. Mike, I am astonished at the performance of this new prop. The hole shot was much stronger and even though i did not have my GPS on board the odometer was hovering between 48 and 50 at 6000 rpm. Tell me where to get these prop numbers and I will have them this weekend.

Should be stamped on the prop. I've got a 13.75x19 4 blade aluminum and looking to upgrade. My top end kinda stinks.

Thanks Mick.

I would also be interested in knowing some solid numbers since I have the same rig. Mine has a 14 X 18 stainless 3 blade prop. I don't have my motor broken in all the way yet but I have pushed it up to 6000 rpm for a few seconds. The water was rough but all I saw on the GPS was around 37 mph. Normally I would not spend money for 2 or 3 mph but for 10 mph I would defintiely consider a different prop.
Thanks

I havea 1965 DLX w/90 HP Honda and just purchased a Honda 4 blade 17p prop. The porpiosing problems are gone and at WOT, I'm getting about 38 mph. With a little tweaking, 40 mph would be attainable but who wants to go 40 mph in this boat?

50 MPH in a skiff? That's scary. Brings to mind one of these racing hydroplanes flipping end for end...

Mick: Best get your motor in for the service or do it yourself or you could void your warrentee.
I'll be doing my own and saving reciepts for evidence.
