I have a new Motorguide Wireless SW-55 54" I want to bow mount on my '97 1765 CS.

Where on the bow and what orientation would be best for this square flat bow?

TIA

Do you have bow rails? If so, that's going to cut down on your options. With my rails cut and out of the way, this is how I did mine.

Thanks for the input Lakebiker. I am going to remove that ugly flounder light bracket first. and then position the trolling motor.

But, why do I see motors mounted at an angle from port ? Will this off-center orientation affect steering and efficiency? I have the Motorguide SW55 54" Wireless and the mounting base is rather small. I now realize with my center chair socket I should not mount the motor on centerline.

Thanks
DJ

Most of the ones you see mounted to the side are remote units and mounted that way to clear up deck space. Mine is mounted like it is for two reasons, 1st my unit is a tiller control model and from my front seat, I can reach it with no problems, 2nd, I flounder gig with this boat too and with the troller to the side, it was in the way of my lights. With your wireless, I'd say put it were you like it the best, off center, down the side, neither one is going to have much if any effect on the steering. Only down side to the unit you've got is the mounting "pad". It's a little small and it's going to be a B I T C H to reach the bolts/nuts under you're deck. Try and find ya a small kid who knows how to use tools for that part. You may even wind up having to drill a couple holes in the "lip" at the bow to ensure clearence for the shaft when it's down. Hope this helps. LB

That was a big help and reassuring to know that bow placement is not that critical for steering and pulling efficiency.

I have seen the bow lip drilled for the forward mounting bolts. I may be able to use one of the holes from the light bracket. Thanks Lakebiker. I'll post the pics later.
