Hi all CS owners, I have a question on condensation in my small volt and small gas guage. I didn't see any condensation on the big RPM or MPH, is this normal? I just got the boat in the water and if this is a matter of a leaking gasket I would like to replace both gauges. CS said they would cover the new guages under the warranty, but again if this normal I will not bother to replace them. Is this common on all gauages or just Faria? I called a couple marinas with mixed answers most say its normal and that faria has a history of this matter. Any help very much appricated, Jeff.

First off, welcome aboard. Now that said, I wouldn't think it would be normal for ANY gauge to have condensation in it. Being new, let them replace them. thumbsup

Hi lakebiker, thanks for the reply. I was thinking the same as you. I feel a guage should be water tight with a front rubber gasket between the metal and glass. As the guage ages yes it would be normal for rubber gasket to be worn from sun, saltwater, etc. It only takes a pinhole to cause condensation. But a guage that is a year old that never was used or hit salt water sould not fug up. So I will take the 2 new gauges and send the old ones back.

Thanks,
Jeff

Faria gauges do have a history of condensation, is not only you.

Welcome aboard.

Thanks for the tech support guys. I called up Faria and they said that all of there gauges are not sealed from behind but are water tight in the front. So I looked and saw the two little holes in the back, and that of course would cause the condensation. Faria also sent me a E mail explaining condensation and other guage situations. So the bottom line is the guages are not air tight and will fog to a certain degree. The guages will defog quick with the lights on or as soon as cooler air hits the inside of the guage. Faria also makes non fog lense guages, but I guess those ant mine in my boat, lol. Thanks for the welcome to the site, Jeff.
