HI I just signed up and wanted to say hello from the St. Augustine/Jax area.
With a little luck I will be the excited owner of a new 1655DLX in the coming couple of weeks. Being my first new boat, for that matter my first boat (I've been waiting 25 years) I'm sure I'll need some help along the way.

Congartulations on getting a NEW boat. I know the feeling. I'm 41, been running & having boats since I was 13, and this past March is the FIRST time I've ever had a "brand new" one. I just got the 198 DLV.
What a rush going to the dealer and Having the guy take me out to the boat and say "Here's the new DLV you ordered"
So I know just what your going through.
Glad you found Carolina Skiff Owner, because now you ARE one.......... ;D
Hope you like the site.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
Oh I will post pictures as soon as I get them.
I'm also taking suggestions for a Fish Finder/GPS (best bang for the least buck)
Also will take any fishing advice. I've lived here 3 years and no fishing. My previous fishing experience is all fresh water, ( bass, crappie, and some cats)

Hey Mike,
I got a Gamirn 498C from these guys http://www.gpsdiscount.com/ Seemed to have really good service and answered any and all of my questions, & GREAT prices too.
Also sent me a free "T" shirt to boot..... ;D
Being from NJ, I'm not too sure about the fishing down in FLA, and I always hire a guide when I fish there.
We have members here from FLA, so ask any question you may have in the apporite forum and I'm sure someone will chime in.
Good luck, and damn glad to have you here !!!!

Hi Mike! Welcome to the site. St Augustine is a cool town. I havent been there for years.
I have always had garmin products and like their combo units. I have the 298C and I am happy with it. The g charts are good and the unit is user friendly. Plus the FF works great on my DLV.
Harry just sent me a DVD (Thanks Harry) on its operation. I'm sure I'll pick up a few tips from it.

Hey Mike
Congartulations on the NEW boat. You picked a winner with the 1655DLX IMHO.
I have an 05 with a 40hp Yamaha 2 stroke. I have had quite a few boats over a period of years and could not be more pleased with my boat. I flush & wash it in about 30 minutes and roll it in the garage until next time. I am down south of you in Palm Coast, maybe we can get together sometime?

Hey Neil
Glad to hear you like you 1655DLX I think I'll be pleased. We'll definately have to get together. I plan on spending lots of time between Vilano and the Matanzas Inlet.

Mike,
I'm from Jacksonville over on the Westside. I've got a 22' sea chaser bay runner. I've heard that there is a website called Scuba Steve , you might want to Google it, but they have some real good prices on GPS.
