croakerhead,
I just installed one on my boat. The manufacturer is Moeller and filter is about the size of an oil filter for your car. I found it on sale at Boatersworld, the housing and two filters was $20. You can spend alot more but I don't know if you need it. My last boat had one that was clear on the bottom so you could see any contaminents. That one cost $80, so I took a chance on the cheap one. I'll let you know if I have any problems. 015

I have a recor with the clear bowl on the bottom. You can see if you got any water with the clear bowl and I like that, but other than that just about anyone out there on the market will work just fine on a 50 horse motor. Size only comes into play on large motors and twins that have high fuel flow rates.

Also, the Racor style will let you drain the plastic bowl with a valve on the bottom.

croakerhead, as was pointed out, flow capacity won’t be a concern with your relatively small HP motor so there is no benefit to purchasing a more expensive high capacity filter/separator kit. The other important consideration is the size of particulate the filter is able to trap, especially if your motor has EFI. Certainly, you don't want water going through your fuel system but it can't do any harm to clean it of as much tiny particulate as is possible. In the long run, 85 bucks for a filter kit that uses a replacement filter at less than half that cost, is (IMO) a modest overall investment considering the filter needs replacing only once per year. Here's a link to a thread a while back that goes a little deeper into this subject.
