Has anyone tried to shorten the wire harness under the console. On my 2480 with ex-large console there are 2 main harnesses I'll call them, that are at least 4 to 6 feet to long. They are coiled up and ties hold them to other wires and steering cables. There are plastic connectors that look like the wires could be pulled out and reconnected. Is this something anyone has done? And if so, how did you do it. It seems like they used wireing harnesses for a 30' boat instead of a 24'. Just a bunched up mess under there. I'm wandering if cutting out to shorten and reconnecting with but connectors and shrink tube which would be a lot of connections for problems if can't remove and reinstall wires in plastic connectors. .....Darell

Flyboy3,i started doing that my self.I'm not cutting them, but i will put them together nice in a flexible wire loom, so this way all i see is a thick wire cover/protector.I don't have to cut mine, they are o.k , not any loops under the console.

You're gonna regret this if you decide to lengthen your boat some day ROTFLMAO

I'm really sick of working on it because the things I'v been doing requires the gas tank to be out so I can't go fishing. And my moms been in the hospital all week and I only get an hour here and there to work on it with trying to spend time with her. But I'm almost ready to float again. And I hear the snook are bitting and in season as well as the trout and reds. YeeeHaa.....Darell

Bobreeves,

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll hold off on shortening the wiring harness until after I install the 4 ft. extension section offered my CS for do-it-yourselfers. It's supposed to just snap in after you slice your boat in two sections. Think of the room.

Remember - measure once, cut twice. Or is it ... 001
