LOL,
I see you must of found the hard bottom of lakes bay back there just like I did my first trip out with the boat..... ;D

I got mine at West Marine. It wasn't listed as a Suzuki paint, but it was a glossy black and matched perfect. I also got some off white paint for the aluminum prop, it found the bottom too..... ::)

Its nice to know that you can run aground, lift the motor up and float away in 8 inches! ;D

My old boat would make you get out into the water and push yourself out if you were lucky.

I picked up the gloss black Quicksilver paint. Its good enough of a match. Hope my suzi doesnt start to pick up any mercury habits!!

Another paint tip:

Try Rustoleum Black Metallic. Its a pretty good match. Dont think I would paint my motor cowling, but on the skeg or LU its a good match.

My dealer always has Shadow Black in stock. I'd think most would.

Same here, the local Suzuki dealer carries the basic spray can, I've bough a couple of cans ---- can't seen to keep any paint on my skeg either.

My gosh, this is an old thread that someone dug up.*001*

That said, I gotta say, worrying about paint on a skeg is, IMO, a big ole waste of time. I am just glad I still have a skeg after some of the skinny-water running I do during the late fall and winter. Paint won't stay on the skeg, and an aluminum prop is a waste of time. That's why I bought a Skiff.

I agree The olny time I worry about paint is when I store it for the winter. I sand the skeg area slightly and spray it back the orginal color , Even though it's alum. it helps with the electrolics and the alum. doesn't become pitted.
other than that s/s prop--run through the summer--don't worry about the paint. Like they said--- OOPS!!!!! raise the motor, float out in 8 ins. of water.*thumbsup*

I think the saying goes...

I'm with you Red, "If you got paint on your skeg, you don't need a skiff".*Cheers*
