I fished with an old friend yesterday who I know since 1st grade. We havent hung out for almost 15 years. I picked him up at his house which has a 200 yard long, narrow, driveway. I figured i'd back the boat in to his house. When doing so, the driveway is winding with trees everywhere. There is about 6 inches on either side of the trailer wheels as I am backing in. I am focusing on the wheels staying in the driveway and didnt realize that some of the trees stick out. I bumped the rear port corner of the boat on a small tree and heard the crunch. It looks ok, but the rub rail is a bit loose and underneath there is some cracked gelcoat. A minor ding at best, but pissed me because I should have known better.

When fishing, I show my friend my attwood rod holders with the flush mounts and drop one in the water. As Harry said "thats not the way you use them". :P

Then I rubbed the trailer guide pole (pvc) on the side of the wall of the ramp I use and knocked the cap off into the drink. No big deal but added insult to injury.

At least noone fell overboard and we didnt sink. Just a screwy day.

i bought some of the attawood rod holders and i am not sure if i will use them. they are probably very functional but they just look out of place. they make my boat look cheap i think. what do you think about yours. would you rather just have the pvc type tube holders? just wanted a few other oppinions before i drill 3 holes in the top of my deck for each rod holder.

Sorry about the rough day Rich. Hopefully the worst is behind you.

I too have those rod holders and have the flush mounts for them. I don't think they look "cheap" at all. After all it's a skiff not a viking yacht.

With the flush mounts, when not in use you barely know you have them, and they are VERY functional, can be rotated to many angles, tilted up or down, and even used to troll and make a better spread. When not in use their gone.

Here's a couple photo's of mine. If you have any questions on mounting them, how good or bad the work ask away and I'll do my best to help you out.

Flush mount with cap when not in use. I installed two on each side 1 in front, 1 in back

And these are in the rear deck zero angle holders

Well hopefully from your description of your day, tomorrow can only get better. ;) Some days it just doesn't pay to get out of bed, does it. But did you and your buddy have a good day anyway? Hope so. :)
