Have run a few trips to Homossassa scalloping this season. Just returned this last weekend 7/31/2010 . The scallops were mostly in deeper water this trip 5-8 foot range, which is strange as normally they are in shallower depths. Also they were sitting on muddy sand bottom, not in the grass fields are past years. We have had lots of rain the area which could cause them to travel to deeper waters. We have a few more charter trips this month so I will update the report.

They were not as many boats this weekend as usual, once the days get closer to Florida School's starting the crowds will become smaller. Season closes late in September this year so there is plenty of time still.

Seven weekends in a row for us and limit every time. I have never seen them this thick. We are finding them in the 7'-9' depth as well.
