Has anyone noticed that Photobuckets resizing has been sort of flaky? I uploaded a 1024x768 last night. I used Photobucket to resize it to 640x480. It showed up 640x on PB but previewed as 1024x on here. I posted the picture on here this morning and it came out as 640x. I looked at the post just now and its showing up as 1024x again! ???

I think I'll resize all my pics now BEFORE loading to Photobucket.

I went through the same thing at another place. Folks were saying pic looked fine but to me, it took up the whole screen. I didn't do nothing and a day or two later, they were fine. Damn if I know. 006 006 Give it a few days.

Mornin' hogtown. Not sure what happened to your image. I haven't been able to duplicate the problem. Please review the information below to see if you may have gotten out of sequence, or missed a step in you PB uploading procedures.

PB resizes the image as it is uploaded, to the maximum image size option you have chosen - before you upload the image. Once it is in PB, it cannot be resized, (within PB) to my knowledge. Also, when setting the image size option, you must be sure and click on the "SAVE" button in order to save any change you want to make. Otherwise, PB will continue to upload at the previous image size.

Here's an example of a test I ran this morning. Before uploading the following images, and without changing the file description, I was able to upload this same image at various sizes by changing my image size option BEFORE uploading each image. Note also, that the original (and only) image stored on my hard drive is a 792kb .jpg file.

I always convert my image sizes prior to sending them to PhotoBucket. This saves on upload bandwidth/time.

I use Microsoft Office Picture Manager to do this, but any image editing program (even freebies) should handle fundamental image resizing.

As far a FREE image editing software goes, it doesn't get any better than Serif PhotoPlus6. It's completely free and fully functional.

If I hadn't invested big bucks and mega time (almost 2 decades) working with Adobe PhotoShop, that's the one I'd use. Actually, I downloaded it months ago and gave it a test ride. PhotoShop Elements (what I most often use now) users will find it very intuitive and just as feature packed and capable.

Unlike Mike, since discovering Photobucket, I rarely (anymore) take time to resize images for posting on web forums. I still like my imaging software however and typically spend many hours per week editing images, for fun and business.
