We crab anywhere from the little river, St Jones river, to the Indian river in Delaware. Been renting boats from Dover AFB until I retired, now plan on going more often and have plans for two commercial size pots to drop in and fetch the next day. Don't have the boat yet, but 14 foot should be just right for my purpose, easy to launch and easy to handle expecially since I go solo, not counting my ten year old helper that is.

I have 2 of the commercial pots and it seems that every time I leave them out overnight, somehow the crabs mysteriously >:D find there way out by the time I check them in the morning.........strange thing for sure...... 001 Have also heard of traps dissapearing overnight too...something to do with the tide......... 017

It's the way the entrance funnels are made. Plus if you don't have the trap split in two with the upper holding pen the crabs aren't going to stay. It could be the size of the cut in the dividing mess.

people love to take pots that are not marked with owner. Comercial guys may take unbuoyed or buoyed with unknown colors. Crabbers have their own color designs
