Like many of you, I love to use Gulp brand baits. Undoubtedly, fish love them too but they can be a bit messy, especially when 3 or 4 people are digging in the small bucket the baits come packaged. This small container is also a pain to get into with a rod or jig head in one hand. When you do get the screw on lid off, you usually get a lot of the juice on your hands and all over the boat when grabbing a bait. Check out my storage container which solves the issues of getting to the bait and keeping the juice in the container:

I started with an OXO brand storage container purchased at TARGET:

Next, I added a strap handle:

The OXO container is very easy to get into with one hand:

The rubber gasket on the OXO container does a great job of sealing when the square knob is pressed down. When you unseal the container, the knob gives you nice handle to take the lid off.

Next, I took and modified one of those cheap 2-1/2 quart containers by drilling holes in the bottom, and shaping the top to form easy grab areas. I also drilled two holes in each side. These holes slide onto the nuts holding the strap on. This system keeps the bait out of the juice while you grab the bait!

I have been using this system for a while now and it is very easy to use, one handed, allowing you to grab a bait without covering you or the boat in juice. All for under 15 bucks!

Thanks for looking!

Raymond,
I like it*thumbsup*
I use gulp a LOT and like you said, the spin off lids stink and the juice drips all over the place ....*kickrock*

Question about your bucket. It appears to be a bucket inside a bucket correct?
Also in the last photo it looks like the handle nuts are attached to the inside bucket. How do you lift the inside bucket up so it drains the juice if it's bolted? Is the inside bucket slotted? *006*

Maybe I'm looking at the picture wrong *clonk*

Hey Harry!
The inside container is not bolted to the OXO container. The bolts and nuts are for the strap handle. The inside container has one hole on either side drilled larger than the nuts in order to slip over the nuts when lifted out of the juice. I trimmed the inside container to make two "ears" which are pushed out by the nuts and easy to grab when the inside container is lowered in the juice.

Gotcha. I like the seal and container. Never seen one like that.
Thanks again.

Martin,

Your a genus,

Hi Travish,

I have not witnessed any colored baits staining the white baits!

Hello Raymond, hope you are well. Thanks for sharing another great and functional idea. I love it. Can't wait to get started making one. If I get to fish this year, I'm experimenting with making my own gulp juice to try. I can't afford $20/container. I've done some reading on the internet and spent some time at the health food store for various fish oils, etc.

Thanks
Foursum/Jimmy

Hey Jimmy! That is a great idea to make your own fish attractant! It took WD 40 tries to get it right so if you want to send me JIMMY28, I will be glad to do some testing for you!

Has anyone had a chance to make a container yet? If so, what do you think?

Hello Raymond, and all!

Thanks again for sharing your invention for gulp storage. I finally got to Target today and purchased the OXO container. You are right, it's easy opening and closing and seals very well. All I need now is locate somewhere to buy the inter-container and I'm ready to assemble.

Take care,
Jimmy/Foursum
