I am going to take on installing my cd player and speakers myself. I was wondering what you prefer to cut your holes with. I have access to a roto zip and a jig saw. Which bit would I need for the roto zip. clonk Thanks

I prefer a jig saw with one of those carbide "grit" blades. I cover the surrounding area of the cut with masking tape to reduce scratches and gel coat chipping and have at it.

I think you'll break a lot of bits with the roto zip. I've gone through a half dozen working on luan plywood.
I use a fine tooth blade on a sawzall and apropriate size drill bit for the corners.
Tape is advisable. Good call skunkape.
P.S. we have heard of skunk apes in Ozello too goes way back to the days when panthers roamed free.

My favorite tool for cutting fiberglass for speakers, radios etc. is a HIGH SPEED AIR BODY SAW. You can buy them through Harbor Freight for around 30 dollars. This saw gets in the tightest places and is very easy to use.

Raymond, what blades do you use on tha saw?
I usually cut fiberglass with roto zip and a bit made for ceramic tiles.Cuts like butter. If there is plywood behind the glass, then i use the wood bits and go VERY slow.

They sell two blades to fit the saw and I can only find them at Harbor Freight. Do a search for the saw on their website and it will show the blades. It is a very, very cool saw and has saved me a few times due to its small footprint.

I think you will have to get an air tank & compressor first, for the air saw. Boat = more money. 004 004 004

I used my Dremmel and it worked perfect. I did tape the area I was cutting with masking tape first. I used a high speed laminate trimmer to cut the hole after I predrilled a hole for the circle to get started.
