I am considering purchasing the skiff in these pictures. It only says 16 on the side. Would this be a Classic skiff or is it a DLX? It is a 1i997 model and I'm not sure when they started changing the designations. I have not looked this one in person, but for $1200 it seems like a good deal. The motor is junk, but I have a better one to replace it with.

I realize I'll find this out next week in person, but can you tell from the pictures if this has a short or long transom?

Lastly, how do these skiffs do for lake fishing? I would figure that even a moderate chop would be hell with such a flat bottom???

BoneDigger,
It's the old style, get some frog-togs as you will get wet. Flat as our 2180. Has it been stored inside or not? Covered or not? Pull a screw anywhere on the floor and see if it's been sealsd down with 5200 or the like. Mine was NEW and when I put trim tabs on her she bled water for a couple of days.
Killer lake rig. I've no idea on the transom.

That appears to be a DLX just like mine, except mines a '96. I cant answer about the transom from the pics, for lake fishing it should be gravy...as for handling chop and all, yeah its rougher than a v-hull but with the motor position right its really not too bad. I run mine in rivers with tugs, rivers with other boats, choppy water, smooth water, and swells. I have been very pleased with it, the only time i really got soaked was with my motor position wrong, since it has been corrected it has been a very pleasant boat to be in. it should be the 55 inch width, i have fished 3 comfortably with a 40hp pushing it.
