Have a 2005 1980 v with a center console. going to mount a dipper for crabbing. Can i mount it to the left side. Most i have noticed are on the right.

I don't think it matters. It's just personal preference.

I'm thinking it's for Mcnuggets, saves you from getting bait fingers in the BBQrotflmao
It's a roller guide of sorts that you mount to the side of the boat. The 300+ ft of crab line rolls over it as you run parallel to the line. It pulls the line up for you allowing you to net the crabs as they approach the surface. Many different types, frequently made from PVC pipe.

This is an auto dipper (not mine). It is an efficient way to dip crabs off a trot/snood line. it takes the human error out. Very large piece of equipment. I have seen one on a CS, but I don't remember how they attached it. One problem is that these are home made items so each one is a little different.
