Ive always wanted a rubber fish net because hooks get tangled so darned easy in the nylon ones. Pricey but got one and the handle slides up to make it shorter kinda cool too. Whats the advantages or rubber vs nylon? I know hooks get tangles less and easier to get out. Ive heard its better on fish, takes off less of their slime?

almost bought this one last week http://boatingsavings.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/frabill-pro-formance-landing-net.aspx?a=651019

never had one so I can't really say pros & cons but this is the best deal I have seen... especially if you are a member... had some shipping deals too

I still use the nylon netting. Have thought about the rubber before but 14 years ago I started using barbless hooks so the material no longer matters in my case. Everything I use is barbless and they fall right out of the net.

Rubber! Rubber helps the protective slime stay on the fish.

I've got rubber. Rubber doesn't get the hooks tangled and it doesn't remove as much slime from the fish. It also doesn't get an odor to it and it lasts longer.

I was once at the outer banks and talked to a guy who said he took a nylon one off the frame and sprayed it with bed liner stuff, guessing the ruberized kind. Said it would last as long as the rubber ones and didn't catch hooks.

went rubber 3 years ago for all the same reasons, I did find one negative, they have alot more resistance in the current and if you are by yourself makes a long reach more difficult

I've got one of each - I find for larger fish like king salmon, nylon just works better. for the big fish, you hold the net vertical in the water, and as soon as you guide the fish into it, you lift it vertically, closing the mouth of the net with the fish in the bottom. The rubber one is too stiff for this kind of landing - more suited to scooping smaller fish like bass/pike/walleye.

So if I'm headed out for warmwater species, I'll take my rubber one, but if I'm after coldwater species in Lake Ontario, I bring my nylon net.
