Just a heads up next Wednesday through Sunday I'll be fishing behind Bald Head and Oak Island and may venture out to Yaupon and McGlamory reefs. All you need to do is go the opposite direction I head and you should be able to catch all the fish you could ever want as I seem to be wearing fish repellant this year. ;D
If anyone is a glutton for punishment and wants to meet up shoot me an email maybe if we all team up we can scare atleast 1 out of the water.

I have been reading about Spring tarpon fishing around Bald Head Island, have you had any luck with them in the past? I am wanting to make a week trip to Holden Beach Mid-May and thought about making a run to Bald Head Island if the tarpon bite is on.

The wind has been constant so far this Spring. The few times I've gotten out have been able to find a couple of reds, flounder, and trout in the backwaters. Have heard of a decent bite on whiting and gray trout in the river off the bald Head marina but it's been to rough for me to try.
I'll be heading to Swansboro next weekend and maybe try fishing a day or two up there.
Good luck!fishingsmilie*

Can't say much for the tarpon bite, not even sure on how to fish for them but I have heard of them being caught. We've fished 2 weekends so far this spring. 1st wkend was back in March and we managed a few reds in the backwater. We did find a decent whiting hole just out of the river off caswell beach. 2nd weekend was last weekend and we managed a few reds in the backwater and heard good reports of blk drum in as well but when we fished the cape fear inlet we only had whiting. I think we would have done better in the bays had it not been for the GRASS this time of year. I think we'll probably venture out if conditions allow and search for bonito (check my spelling here, its the ones with teeth, you can eat, that we'll be after) and may pull up to an ar or 2 and see what's on the bottom. I've pulled in some real RED drum 40+ inches this time of year doing that, which is a real ball! Like was said above, if conditions are like they have been we'sl probably be in the bays flying a kite instead. Either way its gonna be some fun, and hey the seafood market doesn't close till 5!!! Lmao
