Took the day off today to fish. Got to the ramp, backed the skiff in, climbed on-board to start her up and she would not start. Messed with her for about 30 minutes, pulled her out of the water and drove her home. Once I got home I hooked up the hose and ears to work on her and it hit me....I never clipped in the lanyard..... 019

Been there, done that. Thinking of replacing mine with a switch. I had anther time where I absolutely could not pull the starter - turned out to be a 'safety device' to prevent starting in gear that had gone out of adjustment. It is now gone out of the motor. 004

I did that once at the ramp in NJ on a semi busy day....tried for a min or so and realized what was wrong but by this time had a few guys giving me advice soooooooo I pulled the cover on the motor and went to looking on the side away from the dock....after a minute or so said ahha and played with a wire then put the cover back on and turned the key after slyly clipping on the saftey clip and wow it started right up.....they were impressed and so was my wife cause she had no idea what the heck I did either........and she is still not the wiser . 019 019

O.K that's a good one, but ...................... which one of you drove your self and 5 fishing hungry buddies 95 miles on a sunday to find out when you get to the boat that the boat keys are still home?
Well, you guessed it. 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 019 and that is not enough.
My marina has keys, but that week they closed on sunday for a funeral. 004 004 004 004
Now i have a spare set in my truck and made the cabin door to open with a combination lock and keep a set in the boat too.

Since I have an hour drive to the ramp I always hook up the muffs and run the motor the night before I leave.

Time for the checklist...
Keys,
Lanyard,
Plugs in??
Check...
I have spent many hours sitting in my Jeep near the boatramp on a Sunday watching... Mostly very amusing!
