what i was doing after washing them i was blowing them with my compressor to get the water out right away, that kept some corrosion away, but not totally.Even in yiur car when it sits for a while the discs get rusted, but clean out after you drive off and hit the brakes.

Broke, do you have any problem with the calipers sticking? The trailer I have has a short tongue on it and I often have to back the rear wheels of my Explorer back into the (salt) water when I launch. I always hose off the boat, trailer, trailer wheels (no brakes on my trailer) and inside the rear wheels of the truck, best I can. The right rear caliper is froze open and the left rear is froze shut - gonna need two new brake calipers 001

I'm looking for a (about 3 foot) trailer tongue extension now. Anyone add an extension to their trailer? If so, where did you find one?

I guess I had that one comin' ::) The only trailer place we have around here don't sell boat trailers and don't know about any tongue extensions but said he'd be glad to sell me a trailer for my lawnmower. The boat dealer said he doesn’t know anything about tongue extensions either, but he'd be glad to trade for a boat trailer with a longer tongue. 001

get a qt. of salt away with hose adapter. removes salt and leaves a coating to keep salt off. I use it on my boat, trailer and motor inside and out works great. I was told about this product buy charter boat captains.

Sarge,

Take your trailer to a welding shop and have them add a piece into the tounge. If done properly it will be just as strong if not stronger. And I wwould be willing to bet either the same or less moneyu then a trailer place.

I thought about that but I'm thinking of rust at the weld joint. Hot dipped galvanizing would not be possible and I know I can spray on some galvanized paint but I know how durable that would be and of course I couldn't be able to get to the inside either, to paint the joint. I'm thinking I may have an extension made that would slip over and bolt to the existing tongue - should be able to get that dipped 006 It would be pretty simple I think, something like this:

Sorry, almost forgot you redfish 001

Salt-away is some good stuff. I use it primarily to flush my engine. The rest of the boat and trailer cleans up real easy with plain water. Don't think it would have helped with the rear brakes on my truck. Once the salt water gets into the calipers, I don't see a way to flush them out good, short of removing the wheels to gain access. Best solution is to keep the rear wheels (and brakes) out of the water - need a longer trailer tongue ;D

Dave,

Check out these photos of a trailer extension from the "other" CS website.

http://picasaweb.google.com/shootmor

It will be "joe's Public Gallery" Look in the "tongue extension" collection.

Everybody needs an extension some time or another.

Thanks Shagg. Pretty darn slick thumbsup I like the way that tongue retracts.

Hey Brokebeach, I talked to a guy that works with all kinds of metal. He said clean your surface good and get you a 2 part epoxy at you hardware store. He said it will last a long time. Of coures it will not help the rotor. HE said you will be pleased. All you do is mix it and brush it on. :secret:
