Anyone in this area know a little bit about what to do or where to go? For some reason (meaning , I don't know why she picked this spot) the wife wants to come down to the Myrtle beach area.
Doubt I'd get to wet a line (unless I send her to the mall with credit card and someone wants to take me fishing ;D )
Sure I could google info on this area, but what do you locals like to do? I heard of a dinner / counrty opera show or something ? (not my idea of fun), but when I went down to pick up my boat, my dad mentioned it and said it was really good 006 Guess Dad is changing in his older age, I never would have heard him say that about an opera when I was younger . 001
Anyway thanks in advance for any suggestions ...

Myrtle Beach is a tourist spot very popular during the spring and Fall.If you like to golf you'll enjoy it. Lots of nice courses all around MB.There are a few dinner/theatre places that people talk about but I can't help you there[never been]. 006
I live about an hour north of MB and would gladly take you out fishing. It's pretty dead right now[Jan. and Feb. is the off-season for me]. Beginning in March though I can usually go out and find speckled trout[southern cousin to the weakfish]. Fishing keeps getting better all year long from there.
Look me up if you come down! Gregg

Harry;
Dont know when you are coming down or where you are staying but there is plenty to do in MB, Bass Pro Shops for one, great dining particularly overlooking Murrells Inlet which is the Ocean outlet to great ocean fishing and great Red Drum fishing in the fall, don't discount the shows either, Good Vibrations will bring you back to your youth and keep you entertained. There is Barefoot Landing and Broadway at the Beach for evening strolls and an Ocean that gets more blue every year. Fishing other than way offshore which is too far for me in my 238 DLV is not that good until mid april, but I would gladly take you out and fish some inshore and mid range reefs if the weather is good.
One Note: Myrtle Beach is the Time Share capital of the south so ignore anyone offering you free tickets or $100 to attend anyrhing.

Just found out they sent her some junk in the mail, that's where she got the idea. She said you get a 3 days 2 night stay, plus tickets to a dinner show. Just have to sit through a 1 hour timeshare speech .. 001 I'd rather stick a fork in my eye. I told her I would skip that and pay my own way.
Thanks for the good info guys keep it coming .

If you get out of the presentation in 1 hour you and your wife will be the first ever, i was a lifelong NJ resident and moved here 2 1/2 years ago, I would never go back to NJ. Good Luck

Just a friendly reminder Bike Week is May 10-17th, Black Bike week, week of Memoral Day weekend. Don't really believe you want to be there during either of these times. More than likely, the "deal" won't be on either of these weeks as most places are full for the first event and some places close for the 2nd event. ;D

Harry,
What kind of stuff do you like to do? Will you have your children with you, or will it be an adult trip? Do you want to stay on the beach (beach front) or within a block or two of it?

Myrtle Beach - where do I start - I have been through the full revolution of the MB experience - as a child with my family - as a teenager and graduate from high school - to a young single adult - to an older sinle adult - to the romantic adult and as a married adult and now as with the kids adult and with the entire family adult - its all close to the same just the hours you do it get earlier as you get older - North Myrtle is my favorite now - I am a beach music man so I enjoy the Fat Harolds or Ducks clubs to listen to music - some great burgers at OD Pavilion or Ducks Too - good affordable family country cooking at Haskins Restuarant - and like an earlier poster said Barefoot Landing area has all you tourist type attractions and across the street is Hamburger Joes another good burger joint - for evening dining 2 classic places I really like for seafood is the Chesapeake House - very good and a big variety of fresh seafood - for steak - Longhorn Steakhouse - this is not the chain - it is a family owned restaurant that is your old style steak house very good - both of these restaurants are as I said Family Owned not chains - also at the other tourist spot Broadway at the Beach there is Liberty Steak and Brewhouse - a micro brewery - good beer and not bad steaks - to my knowledge ther is only 2 of these restaurants one there and one close to me in High Point, NC - of course you have endless lines of glutton's paradise buffets if you want to try to kill yourself with food - some are not bad but not my favorite thing to do - on the NC/SC line is the world famous Calabash - a small waterfront comunity made famous for there fried stlye of large plates of seafood - get there early or late as the 5:30 to 7:00 times will put you in long lines - and there is a favorite in this area called K&W Cafeteria - more affordable dining - go down the line and pick out what you want - from contry style steak or Fried Chicken - to prime rib -
Yeah there is golf and ther is malls and outlet shpping centers and yes Bass Pro Shops - you can fish and you can enjoy fun and sun
remeber Myrtle Beach is the 2nd most driven to vacation spot in America - it trails only Walt Disney World and the Orlando parks - going in on a Saturday lines can back way up on highway 501
if you need to know anything else give me a holler I am sure I have experienced it or have a contact for it -
PS - take plenty of money
you can go to Cancun for a week about as cheap

The weather at the beach will probably be warm enough for the ladies to lay out. 018 018 018 The water will be cold, air warm. I'm getting ready to wax the new boat and I have shorts and a tee shirt on now.
