Okay Men, here’s the general scoop for the CCC of CSO February meeting.

Date: Saturday, 23Feb08
Time: 1800 to ?
Place: Texas Steak House, New Bern

You fellas that live out of town and can’t justify coming down for just a meeting, I’ve got a spare bedroom and plenty of floor space and some air mattresses too. If you can make it in Fri night or early Saturday morning (and the weather’s half decent) you might just talk me into a half-day fishing trip or boat tour of the Crystal Coast fishing areas. Won’t need to haul your boat either - we’ll take mine, but you might want to bring a medium duty spinning rod spooled with something like 10-12 lb test line.

We've gotta get a few business matters out of the way and the rest of the time I hope to get to know y'all a little better. Don't forget to wear your "salty" fishin' hat. Who's bringing the camera?

I'm gonna have some line there and some training hooks - maybe you guys can show us your favorite knots.

Oh yeah, if you got a photo album with some fish pictures in it, bring it alone witcha, eigh?

If you have any questions or suggestions, just send me an email or give me a call.

See ya, 012

Dave

1stSarge and the CCC crew... I want to wish you guys the best at your first meeting. Take some pics of your ugly mugs and let's see who you are. ;D I wish I could be there but plugging in 60+ hours/week at the office puts a damper on the extra curricular activities.

Anyway... hoist one for me. 012

OH,OH, tonights the big meeting !!!!!
Wish I could be there for sure.
Hope all goes well, the fella's like there stickers, and be sure to again thank them for me Dave....

Please also pass along that we are ALWAYS open for suggestions here at the site, and that we contiune to strive to make this a place the best for everyone, and the ONLY place to get your Carolina Skiff Info.

Might want to mention the hat deal and some of our previous discussion.
Can't wait for your report.....

Getting any feedback on how many might attend?

Dave

WHAT, you mean to tell us you two failed to secure your airline tickets for our first meeting 006 001

Naw, I never figured we'd get everyone together down here, especially this time of year. Maybe we'll have more attend, as the weather and seasons change - when folks might already be here on a fishin' trip. We'll have 6 of us (I think) at the meeting tonight and I'll be sure and express your best wishes. Of course, if you feel really bad about not being able to attend Harry, you could call in your credit card number, on or before 1800 this evening, and tell the steak house manager to put our bill on your tab. thumbsup 005

Six of us met in New Bern Saturday evening for the very first meeting of the Crystal Coast Chapter of Carolina Skiff Owners. We breezed through a few agenda items, keeping the meeting loose with everyone just getting a feel for each other,s interests and preferences, without writing anything down in stone. I can't speak for everyone, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself, while getting to know some of the members in a way that only a face-to-face gathering like this provides.

Keep an eye on your inbox fellows, as I'll be following up on a few things that came up at the meeting. I look forward to seeing you all again, and to meeting the many others who were unable to attend. 012

Jack,

Thank you for the recognition. I want to thank you for your combat service to our country. And I thank every other vet that is a part of this online forum... thank you all for your service. Plus, I want to thank Harry and his friends who helped form this site - without it, our first CSO-CCC meeting would not have happened. Jack, let me know when you are headed back this way so we can plan to take my 218 out for a test ride.

Moonshinerjack,
Its people like you that appreciate what we do. Is what gives us the reason to keep doing it. And its always my honor to spend time with a fellow Marine.

a few quotes

"only the dead have seen the end of war." Plato
"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13

I guess its a Marine Thing.

Harry,

Let us know when you head this way so we can plan a meeting. I think Harkers Island/Cape Lookout would be a great place to hold a summer meeting. I'm sure Shakespeare and the rest of the fellas from the west will be here too!

Too dang many Marines around this place j/k ;D Seriously, out of three boys in my family I was Air Force (only lifer), one was Army and youngest was a Marine. After comparing war stories between the 3 of us I don't see how you Marines do it. Take care, God bless, and thanks for all you do for our country thumbsup

Holy crap guys, I've been tending to something else this evening and I just dropped in. Ya got me reaching for the wife's kleenex for I got through the first page.

Let's not forget the two unsung heroes at our meeting. You think that didn't take some kinda courage and determination to drive all the way up and over to New Bern, to belly up to the chow hall with 4 Jarheads they've never seen before??? My hat's off to NarrowPath and Gunnar, who by their very presence contributed significantly to helping keep our meeting civilized - - - - - - - - - - this time... My hat's off to you my friends 012

On a similar thought, anyone got a clue what we're gonna do to keep Harry, Shake, and o2 out of the brig if we get them all down here together 006 Shake's pretty cool, but I understand he likes his vino, (or anybone's vino for that matter) and word has it he’s working on a special rum drink named after Harry. I've heard some stories about Harry that have me just a little bit concerned, and I know it's gonna take two (someone’s) to look after o2, especially if he brings his boy down with him - - oh Mammma 008

It’s true; Gunnar & I were the only civilians at the table but didn’t feel like outsiders. It was great to be a part of the group.

Don’t eyeball Moonshiner Jack if you see him around… Look at the picture… You can tell he’s an experienced a$$ kicker. Jack, your work w/ Military Appreciation is awesome! I was proud to sit with the fellas & want to thank them again for their service! thumbsup

Harry, this sight is powerful. It’s helping sportsmen like us find folks w/ common interests, share experiences & make this hobby more enjoyable & productive on and off the water. Thanks a lot for having the foresight to willingness to work at it.
It is a success! 013

Dave, you aught to post a few of your old school fishing pictures you shared at the meeting…. I think the others would love to see some of your great catches. Were the “Magnum PI” shorts the secret to your success? ROTFLMAO

Look forward to meeting more of you guys down the road. Good times!

Later, waving

Thanks for the invites guys, 012

I will make it down one day & I apperciate the kind invites.

Just one question, Why does Moonshiner Jack look like you guys stuck him with the Bill for the night ? Everyone else is grinning ... ;D

Thanks again,
And it's you guys (the members) that make the site.

I think a good time was had by all.I didn't know what to expect going to the meeting and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed meeting all of you and look forward to doing it again. With warmer weather coming and fishing season starting, a CSO fishing tournament might be in order. I don't think we need any prizes or anything.Bragging rights would be enough for me. Maybe a Spring Flounder Fling or...I don't know just tossing an idea out there. What I'm really looking for is an excuse to get together out on the water doing what we like to do.
Anyway it's something to talk about at the next meeting.Till then 012

Jason, I smile sometimes. But then I have to look around and find my clothes, I hate when that happens. Nice to meet you and Gregg too, I didn't mean to leave you guys out when thanking the others for their service. I appreciate you guys just being you, and Americans. I look forward to having other get togethers with you all. Seemed like the time got away pretty fast. I still can't figure out how we all got in the picture...I thought the FirstShirt and Redneck took the pics.....I must have had a good time..lol

SlotMachine, I see you signed up at MAD...Welcome Aboard Sir! I am happy to have you along.

Semper Fi, and I will do till I die.

Didn't last night count? Note the pic of the Sarge is full seminar pose with the US flag flying in the background. We inspected DontCatchMany's new 25 footer last evening. Nice Boat, John. A whole lot bigger is person than I anticipated.

Hey, where'd that camera come from :o

Yep, that was a great meeting Jack! Exactly the kind of exchange of information and ideas that only a handshake and cold beer between friends can provide. If dontcatchmany don't, I don't know who has or ever will ;D

What a rig, eigh? Everything well organized and thought out, and that leaning post/livewell was impressive. The deck space behind it was surprisingly roomy, but it's definitely an option for nothing less then the 258's.
