bobreeves

It was beautiful here yesterday - water relatively clear in the big lake and smooth as glass. I was fishing in one development cove near some bass-looking area (stumps, downed trees), just drifting along in about 3 ft of water. I had a shad hanging from a bobber of the stern and was casting and retrieving with a crank bait (what Texan's call what we called a plug in NH) and thought I hit a snag when it started pulling back. Reeled in about a 3 pound blue cat. 1st time I've had one hit a lure or plug, but I've heard of this. After a little thought of skinning and cleaning, and the fact that we had just eaten the last catch last night, I decided to release him and let him grow a little bigger. Will be out again today as we're predicted to be in the lower 70s with low wind. Need to make up a PVC camera mount that I saw here so I can get pics of my catch. I had my camera with me but too lazy to pull it out and not interested in getting fish slime all over it.
Luv fishing this time of year. Here in East Texas it gets so hot in the summer that it's hard to go outside during the day, let alone all the work involved in launching, retrieving, backing into the barn, and all the other stuff you have to do before and after you're actually on the water. Sure wish I could afford a lakefront with a boathouse and lift. One of these days...
