Since the boats off the trailer & the bunk carpeting torn I'm thinking putting bunk slicks.

I don't use my trailer a lot and the top outer edges of the bunks have a sharp angle. This caused the carpet to fail prematurely and tear along that edge. I could only imagine how bad it would be if I trailered the boat*kickrock*
Not only does this effect the trailer, I'm more concered about my hull.......

The rest of the carpeted bunk is like new with no wear or tears, just the top outer edges.

Anywho,
I'm wondering if anyone sells a bunk slick that would be approximately the width of my bunk and extend down an inch or two. This would be a very easy fix and could simply be nailed or screwed to the bunk from the side, over top of carpet and all.
Slicks are very durable and should last a lot longer then the carpet on that edge (which is angled to match the boats hull, but is not perfect, thus causing the failure and excess wear on the edge and not being displaced the width of the bunk)

OK,
Enough rambling from me, I think I painted a picture you can understand . Got any leads? If needed I can provide bunk measurements, but if you know of a place, I can search their dimensions available.

As always, Thanks guys !!

I had the same problem and installed bunk slicks. They wore into the gel coat on the bottom of the boat so I removed them and intstalled bunkaps. The bunkaps have been on over 3 years and I really like them. More expensive than slicks but I will never need to replace them. bunkaps.com

Thanks, I was needing to do some repair work to my bunks. I like this product a lot better than carpet.

I have been reading up on the bunkaps after seeing a CSO member mention them a while back, very nice product. Also notice them on several boat lifts at the coast. It will not be cheap but I plan on putting these on my trailer before spring.

Are they slick like bunk slicks? The look softer. Just wondering how easy the boat slides on and off.

Thanks

I have not seen anyone load a boat on these but when looking at them on loaded boat lifts (looking at the ends) they do not appear to be compressed at all. I do not know how slick they are, would like to see someone load a boat on these prior to installing.

They were not slick at first so I sprayed them with silicone for the first few launches and now only spray them once or twice a year. They get really slick.

I put these on my bunks, http://www.surfixinc.com/surfix_trailer_bunkslides.html
They work great for protecting my hull from the same thing you mentioned Harry, the carpet rubbing off on one edge. They are slick! Make sure you have water under the boat before unhooking her. Also, when loading on a very steep ramp, she can slide off the roller under the bow lip when you cut power to the motor.
