Inshore all the Wilmington and Carolina Beach Area have to offer is the intercostal waterway and it's tributary creeks..Lots of folks fish the boat docks and the inside of the inlet for keeper size flounder. The Spots maybe starting to make a run now is the water temp continues to cool off some.

As far as near shore the liberty reef out side Masonboro inlet always provides a nice share of Spanish Mackerel, normally on clark spoons or smaller jigs, some will also hit top live baits. You can also throll the 50ft. drop from Masonboro inlet to Carolina Beach inlet for some very nice Spanish Mackerel also. The Best tip is to always look for the birds...*rod*

Here are some very common near shore numbers:

"Liberty Ship" AR 370 4 Miles from Masonboro Inlet(Wrightsville)
N 034 10. 320 W 077 45. 050

"Masonboro Wreck" 6 Miles from Masonboro Inlet(Wrightsville)
N 034 08.179 W 077 43. 736

"2 Mile Rock" 3 Miles from Masonboro Inlet(Wrightsville)
N 034 09.167 W 077 46. 306

All of the above are mainly out of Wrighstville Beach, they are well known from producing both top and bottom duellers...I Highly recommend that if you are not familiar with Carolina Beach Inlet you do not attempt to use the inlet...It is a very tricky inlet that actually changes from day to day, it requires constant dredging..You really want to stay away from it on east winds and an out going tide. Masonboro is very deep and very well marked, and most of safe...*thumbsup*

In Wilmington/Wrightsville:

Tex Tackle...Off hwy 74 on Old Eastwood Rd. Across from Home Depot

Intercostal Angler... Hwy 76 Oleander Dr.

Redix...Directly across the road from The Wrightsville Beach Boat Ramp

You may also come across the bait barge anchored close to the boat ramp or inlets. They offer live and dead baits.

Hope you catch them up...*rod*... If I can be of any other help just shout...

Thanks so much for the info - we fish Wrightsville once a year and in the past have just gone on hit and miss info along with just trying different things. This will really make our trip much better. I live in western NC so if you ever need any info from this area please let me know.

If you make it to Carolina Beach, Island Tackle and Hardware is located on the main street going into CB, on the right, about 1 1/2 miles after you cross the Snow's Cut Bridge. They offer tons of artificial as well as live baits and they open at 6 am.

Good fishing and be safe...

Whatever,
If I'm launching at the Wrightsville beach ramp would you recommend traveling to the coordinates you gave me from the Masonboro inlet?

There use to be a bait barge docked in CB inlet. If you feel comfortable following someone out of CB inlet, Sheepshead Rock is only a couple miles South.

Dont overlook the Cape Fear River. This time of year it's loaded with nice trout, reds and big flounder.
